To Snuggie or Not to Snuggie - Pax asks the question

So my Adopted Soldier JJ is cold and miserable Downrange (sick too as his latest Facebook post mentions).

Now do I send him one of THESE to keep him warm? - would this impact upon his level of Manliness?

The Polls are now open - and your voting should be Aye / Nay / or "maybe in pink"

Edited to add... My friends are so cruel (and funny). One of them suggested this as a nice compromise to the Camo/pink question.

  1. I think those snuggly things might be OK for some folks, but I'd rather freeze than wear something like that...

However, our military is changing....so what do I know?

  2. I agree with Roller Dude, would rather freeze to death than wear one.

  3. Let me suggest that you send him a pair of OD green thermal wear. If you think it would make him feel better...try the silk ones. [These are really nice against the skin.]

Altho, I have seen a pic of a Marine wearing a pair of pink BVD's with an I luv NY patch embroidered on them as he stood at the wall with his weapon, [also wearing his flack-vest and a pair of boots]. NObody was razzzin him either.

But if he's brave enough to risk the razzzzin he will get from his buddies...then the Snuggie is the thing to send. He can use it in many ways.
The camo-pink footies might just get him in front of the SgtMjr...or worse an Officer

  4. I've gotta vote in the negative too.
Thanks for your humorous comment on my blog. Have a great weekend.

  5. Message from JJ is that he'd like to be warmer - so the snuggie gets his vote. I guess it's thin enough he can use it as another layer in his army issued sleeping bag. I will probably send the camo one as it's a bit less *ick* than the others available at Amazon [some of the patterns are OMG!BURNINGMYEYES bright]

Am I wrong in thinking the Powers That Be should be giving the troops more blankets in winter?

  6. Pax..It's not about the Powers that Be giving more blankets. It's about being able to find the room to put it in the ruck sack and carrying it with you as you move about on patrol because 'most' of the patrols are now being done on foot.
Now if you are on a big base then an extra blanket of two isn't a problem.

  7. How about an electric blanket? They make a lightweight version electric blanket throw... he can plug it in when he posts on FB. :)
Oh...and a superhero pillowcase is always good cheer when a dude has a cold. lol
