April Milsupport round up

Well it's been an interesting month of Milsupport.

The Easter parcel reached SSgt G in time and he said he enjoyed sharing it with his team (no mention, however, about whether he tried on the bunny ears)

Late parcel went out to my Airforce double-adoptee (So nice I asked to adopt him for a second deployment). Luckily he's been zipping about the countryside (note... not sure *which* country or which side) and wasn't back for his mail for a few weeks so the lateness wasn't a factor - whew!

Postcards have been winging their way across to a Wounded Warrior based in Texas. I am hoping they make him smile just a bit.

Oh and I acquired a new adoptee via Soldiers Angels too - so far just an introductory letter, an Aussie postcard and a box of goodies (from the Soldiers' Angels store) have headed his way but I am working on his May Parcel as I type (more below)

May goodie parcels...

There is (as I type) a Water Balloon Launcher and 300 water balloons winging their way to SSgt G.  Hopefully it will be a great team toy and fun in the Hot Hot Hot of where-ever he is.

Available at Amazon.com

I did attempt to send a WBL to Airforce Adoptee however for some reason (a weird twist in the time/space continuum?) Amazon's supplier will ship to one AE/APO address but not the other AE/APO address..  Never mind - it's the last parcel for him so I can easily substitute an Aussie Sweets and Munchies pack instead and I am sure he won't mind.

For my Newest adoptee I am trying to order some "Summer Sausage" for him (okay so first I had to ask my "Go To Guys" exactly what the heck that was since we call it something different Downunder).  Hickory Farms have Military gift packs which is lovely - however I am once again having problems with "postcode does not exist for that area" error messages.  I have emailed them and will hopefully hear from them shortly.

Oh and in a RAK [Random act of Kindness(?)] I have shipped some Timtams, Caromello Koalas and Musk Sticks off to a new friend in the USA.  He advised that he's received them but nothing so far on taste tests (I am figuring 2 out of 3 will meet approval).  And being a Sweet and Lovely Pax I did not send any Vegemite to befuddle him further - Go Me! :D

**********
Also a reminder that the ANZAC pin & keychain competition ends on the 1st of May.  There are FIVE entries so far but I'd love to see a few more (just remember to reply at that post to enter).

March Catch up

Wow another month almost gone - this "consecutive" timeline thing is still so hard to get used to :D  (and yes... in my dreams I own a big blue British police box - doesn't everyone?)

A Quiet-ish month of gifting to my Adoptees - some treat parcels sent:-

A parcel of "Spring-ish" items to my newest adoptee G via the Soldiers' Angels store. Love the Bunny Ears!

and some nuttier items sent too. I think my favourite "utterly silly" treat for this month went to Adoptee R (a fellow Monty Python fan)

You can get it HERE

In other news -

the Camo Teddy is finally on his way to his new loving home with Janie.  Slight delay in his dispatch caused by the urgent need for me to replace my eye glasses (at $400 and not covered by my medical cover it caused a bit of Black Hole in my postage funds).  My Previous set of glasses had a bit of an "oppsie" when I fell during a Vertigo fit (erm.. yes.. the world does move for me unexpectedly).  So one lens badly chipped and scratched from the impact of me & them against the bathroom wall and urgent appointments made with the optometrist.  So glad that's all over!  (there may have also been some minor head trauma.. but I'm better now - Honest!)

and an R.A.K (random act of kindness) has just been organised for a distant friend.  Hopefully the on-it's-way chocolaty goodness will bring a big smile to this lovely lady's face :)

Now my plans for April.

  • I need to find a Cookie supplier and send off a batch of yummy treats to my guys (or failing a real live baker - more Australian made cookies).

  • I need to start saving up to send my guys their Summer fun treat of the 200-Yard Water Balloon Cannon Kit.  I've lost track of how many of these I have sent "Downrange" since 2009. One went to my very first adoptee (a lovely Chaplain - I'm not quite sure he ever really "got" my strange sense of humour but he was always so sweet to correspond with) and I think one to Izzy's crew too. (photos have never eventuated from any of these toys... although I am sure that one day I'll be browsing via google and stumble across a live-action post that blames "that weird Australian woman for sending us these".  I live in hope :D)
You could launch a Laden Swallow with one of these things!

In "at home" news - well other than the spiffy new glasses, I have achieved very little.  Still hand-sewing the hems on the new curtains (in between blogging and reading blogs); still need to bring some sort of order to the "Great Book Collection" (a culling must occur as I have less bookcases after the renovation).   Easter family plans will include my middle brother and his family coming up to visit my Folks.  Looking forward to that!

I also have a new jigsaw puzzle I need to put together.  It is destined to be framed and hung in the Kitchen....

Available HERE
And yes... you may realise that I have a bit of a "Van Gogh" liking...  In fact THIS v one is about to be rehung in the bathroom

And THIS v one will go in to the hallway.
Not ordered from HERE because I refuse to pay $$ in postage costs to Aust
Oh Gosh.. just realised they have a PUZZLE version of it to (madly clicks on the "Add to wish list" button)

Whoops.. better go before I convince you all I have an exploding Star fixation :).

Quick Pax Post

I have so many interesting blogs planned but haven't yet found the time to execute the necessary steps for them (that includes the audio posts) - so sorry to be such a slacker, all -  but here's a quick watery Milsupport update instead.

It's SUMMER - well Downrange it is.  And as I have done every DR Summer for the last 3 years of Soldiers' Angeling - I have sent something goofy to my adoptee's

You can get your very own HERE
It's a water balloon launcher - or WBL in Pax speak.  Fun for the drenching of friends & superiors. It's a three man/woman/camel operation - one person each to hold one of the handles; and one to pull back the middle bit. A Fourth crew person could be added for quick re-loading the balloons if they're organised.  So definitely a team toy.

There are currently FOUR of these either heading or arrived in various parts of the Middle East - and hopefully they will invoke fun, excitement and only minor International Incidents (hey.. A girl can hope! :D).  I have suggested the guys bone up on their "Plausible Denability" lines just in case

"Why No Captain - I have no idea how you became so soaked. Random Rain storm perhaps?"

"Watery Missiles Admiral/General/Minor Deity - what ever do you mean Sir?"
And if all else fails they should just use the old stand-by excuse "The Goofy Aussie dared me to do it!"

And no - sorry - I can't provide any action shots.  Of the Ten that I have sent off to Adoptee's over the years nary a one of them have managed to take any snap-shots or filmed footage (one of them did mutter something about "...it's too hard to take a photo when you're running to hide the evidence" - what ever that would mean *sweet angelic smile*)

So I am hoping that all Four of my adoptee's (J, E, M & RAK Marines) get a smile out of these.
